When we moved here the garden hadn’t been loved for years, apart from by the deer (roe and muntjac) that wandered through eating anything in site. There was a small fenced off veg patch, a shed with a falling in roof and a dilapidated greenhouse.
To start we had to fence in the site to keep the deer out (and the dog in…), I’d already decided to run a lot of the garden to meadow so I then set out the formal part of the garden based on the sight lines from the house, and views back towards the house and across the garden. The hard work then kicked in to build the bones of the garden
From here it’s just been the fun of planting and finding what enjoys living here!
